We never truly know the love of a parent, until we become one ourselves. There is no other love that is so forgiving and unconditional. Watching a part of yourself and your best friend grow right in front of your eyes is the greatest thing the world and God offers us. One month with our sweet baby boy has flown by and has been filled with lots of laughs, a few tears, and the best cuddles. Our family has given us the best support and so kindly pretend like they want to see us, when all they really want to see is Jon James.
We have had a busy month, filled with doctors appointments, first baths, pumpkin patching, a Steelers tailgate, Christening (he slept through the whole thing), visits to Grandparents and Great Grandparents, and we even squeezed our first post-baby date night in.
Being a mom is the best job in the world. It is so rewarding and exhausting, makes you wonder how your parents did it. Every night I say a decade of the rosary and thank God for my loving husband, amazing family, beautiful son, and good health. I pray to Grumpa that he watches over Jon James as he sleeps (for hopefully 3-4 hours) and tell him we miss him everyday, but that Jon James has his hairline and he should be proud.
"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." We are even able to continue to watch movies, we just have one more person to cuddle with. This quote is from Ferris Bueller's Day Off, which was our first family movie, and I take it to heart meaning that I could stare at Jon James for most of my days and watch as he takes in the world. Don't forget to stop and enjoy your lives, there is always time to clean, organize, and even sleep. Spending time with loved ones should always be a number one priority. Since September 10th Jon & I have never laughed, smiled, or oozed with joy more.
